    FAQ

What information do we require to provide a quote over the phone?

    • What is the glass for – window, door, shelves, etc?
    • Approximate size?
    • Any edgework required?
    • Is the window frame aluminium, steel or timber?
    • Is the bottom of the window above 500mm from ground level, inside the house?
    • Is the window more than 300mm away from a door?
    • Is the glass clear, coloured or patterned and does it have to match anything else?
    • Do you require a supply or a supply and install price?
    • What suburb is the job in?

What is the difference between clear and low iron glass?

Clear glass contains iron, which gives it a green tinge. When the paint is applied to the back of the glass, this alters the colour, especially lighter colours. Low iron glass has had extra treatment to remove the iron and give a truer colour. No matter which glass you choose, it is cut to size and then toughened to meet the Australian Standards for areas affected by heat.

    What colours are available?

We have samples at our workshop. Glass samples are an indication of colours and may vary slightly when applied to toughened glass. Due to the way in which glass refracts light, panels which butt up to each other and are not in the same lighting conditions may look slightly different. Our standard colours are from the Australian Standard Colour Chart. A colour matching service is available.

What needs to be completed for splashbacks to be measured?

All cabinets, bench tops, power points, holes, stoves, range hoods and any other fittings or fixtures need to be in place. If the glass is to go behind fittings such as the range hood, then the range hood needs to be fitted then removed before final working sizes can be taken.

Do walls need to be painted before the glass is installed?

No but walls must be level and smooth for the glass to sit evenly.

    What is the lead-time?

The lead-time is 10 to 15 working days from taking working sizes and receiving the deposit.

    How is the glass installed?

The glass is installed using neutral cure silicone and clear packers. The edges are sealed with neutral cure translucent silicone, which needs 24 hours before becoming waterproof. Full cure takes 72 hours.

How do I clean my glass splashback?

You can use any form of glass cleaner or non-abrasive cleaning agent.

What warrantee do you give on the splashback colour?

Our painter offers a 10 year warranty against peeling, blistering, bubbling, fading, adhesion to glass or de-laminating.
